Almond Joy Ice Cream

It’s not really ice cream “season” yet in my part of the country. It’s more like very cold slush season here still. However, I have an ice cream recipe for you today.almond joy ice creamAs far as I’m concerned, there is no real season for ice cream. Cold weather or hot. . makes no difference to me. I do know some people who only eat it during the warmer months of the year. Read the rest of this entry

Oatmeal Cinnamon Buttermilk Waffles

I’m not sure why but, this time of year I really, really need breakfast food. Need it. Hearty stuff, too. Not just the fruit and yogurt I eat the rest of the year but waffles and omelets and potatoes and oatmeal. Stuff that weighs you down and fills you up all day.Waffle Time!So this weekend we had our second annual waffle breakfast. Very fun and an easy way to entertain. Just borrow a couple of extra waffle makers from party guests and set out some waffle batter and imaginative topping. The rest takes care of itself. Let everyone loose in the kitchen and they cook their own breakfast while you sit back and enjoy your coffee! Ahhhh. . .I love to entertain like this! Read the rest of this entry

Chocolate Loaf Cake

It’s almost Valentine’s Day so it’s time for a little chocolate. I don’t need flowers or anything. . just chocolate. (And occasionally some jewelry.)Chocolate Loaf Cake

This is my favorite chocolate cake recipe. It’s not fancy or fussy. It doesn’t even have icing. But it’s rich and dense and SUPER moist. I can’t believe I’ve never shared it before. Read the rest of this entry

Brown Sugar Coconut Rice Pudding

Once in a while I like a bowl of rice pudding. It’s not a dessert that appeals to me very often but from time to time, for some unknown reason, I crave some. I think it’s a throw back gene from my dad, who adores rice pudding. (Sans raisin, which are the devils fruit!)Brown Sugar Coconut Rice PuddingOr I might have been craving this because it is sub-zero here and I need cozy desserts. Or it might have been that I had a lot of sticky rice in the pantry and thought this was a great way to use some. Read the rest of this entry

Cranberry Orange Bread

Merry (belated) Christmas! I intended to share this with you before the holiday. It would have made a good breakfast treat for Christmas morning. Alas, I had no electricity.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles

I love a good truffle. All kinds. And since it’s the holidays, I feel justified in making them because I can give them away and not eat 3 dozen by myself.

Cookie Dough TruffleIt could happen. I made some boozy truffles one year and I might have eaten more than I gave away. What can I say, I like candy and booze! Win win!

Chewy Giant Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

Is it just me or is Christmas barreling down on us?

Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

I suppose it’s because Thanksgiving was so late in the year. It leaves so much less time for holiday baking. Thank goodness my Christmas cards are done and most of my shopping is done.

Movember Murfee

Happy Thanksgiving! Just a quick smile for you today!

MurfYou might know this is my beagle, Murfee. She is a fierce squirrel hunter, rabbit slayer and tiny bird smuggler. (She once stashed a sparrow in her mouth and then when I let her in the house she released the dazed and terrified bird in the living room so we could then catch it and re-release it into the wild. Fun times!) Read the rest of this entry
