I’m not sure why but, this time of year I really, really need breakfast food. Need it. Hearty stuff, too. Not just the fruit and yogurt I eat the rest of the year but waffles and omelets and potatoes and oatmeal. Stuff that weighs you down and fills you up all day.So this weekend we had our second annual waffle breakfast. Very fun and an easy way to entertain. Just borrow a couple of extra waffle makers from party guests and set out some waffle batter and imaginative topping. The rest takes care of itself. Let everyone loose in the kitchen and they cook their own breakfast while you sit back and enjoy your coffee! Ahhhh. . .I love to entertain like this! Read the rest of this entry

Merry (belated) Christmas! I intended to share this with you before the holiday. It would have made a good breakfast treat for Christmas morning. Alas, I had no electricity.
This is a doughnut/muffin hybrid. Looks like a muffin, tastes like a cake doughnut. Really it does.
Some days you need cinnamon rolls. Lots of them. Slathered in icing.
Our wedding anniversary is in a few days and Thanksgiving is right around the corner so we opted to celebrate this year by heading to the Florida Keys.
I usually post a weekly recipe on Mondays. Sorry I missed you this week. You get a Wednesday recipe instead.
I have been sick. The fall crud got a hold of our household and wouldn’t let go for awhile. Tim and I have both been battling it. We were passing it back and forth.
Several things happened last week. My other dog had surgery, I went to a drive in movie, and I made muffins. Exciting life, eh?
That’s pretty much it. These 3 things occupied all my time and thoughts.
Happy Leap Day! Is this a celebration holiday? Maybe not, unless you have a birthday today.
But it is the end of February. . which means that (for the time being) breakfast food blogging is over. We’ll have a quick word on sausage and move on to some desserts next week!
It’s winter. I know this because we finally got some snow here in MI. It was lovely and now we can move on to summer. Spring is nice too but some summer heat is welcome now.
If I can’t have summer heat then I’ll make do with summer rolls. They are crisp and fresh and very adaptable.
These aren’t hard to make. HOWEVER, they will take you some time to put together. There are sort of a lot of steps here. . .ok not sort of. . . there are absolutely a lot of steps involved in making these. They are not speedy. But they aren’t hard. . .I know you can do it!
Back to oatmeal today. I do love the oats.
When I made this the first time it was not delicious. I had the wrong proportion or something and I was not impressed. I tweaked the recipe and came up with this version which was yummy so I thought I would share it with you.
