Marshmallow Fluff Hot Chocolate

Valentine’s Day is upon us and I have to admit, I love it. I love to eat chocolate, drink wine, whisper sweet nothings to Tim. I love cheesy Valentine’s, red foil wrapped chocolate kisses, holding hands, hearts, flowers, and the excuse to spend more quality time with my darling. I’m a secret sap. Shhhhhhhhh.

Marshmallow Hot Chocolate

In honor of the love holiday I made you some sweet, marshmallowy and choco-licious hot chocolate. You know, to show you I love you. Chocolate is a gift that really says ‘I love you’. That’s the reason I continue to make my dad a chocolate cake in the shape of a heart every Valentine’s Day.

Chocolate Mint Fudge

With just a few days until Christmas, let’s talk a little about candy. I haven’t shared any candies with you this season and I’m about to change that with this super simple fudge recipe.Fudge!Don’t think I haven’t made any candy, though. In the past couple of weeks I have not only made dozens of cookies, several cakes and, of course, pickled eggs, but also about 8 different kinds of candy. Which I have proceeded to eat on a daily basis. Pretty much a nightly sugar coma. Read the rest of this entry

Buttercup Squash Pound Cake

I guess I’ve dragged my feet long enough on fall baking. I miss fresh tomatoes, basil, cucumbers & zucchini already. And warmth, I miss warmth. I’ve already seen the first flurries of snow here in MI and I am not impressed.Buttercup Squash Pound CakeI do love fall squash though. Peanut Butter S’more Bars

Peanut butter with my s’mores? Yes, Please. In cookie bar form? Abso-freaking-lutely! Pb s'more cookie barsBetween all our hiking, backpacking. camping, paddleboarding & hammock drinking adventures this summer I didn’t spend much time baking. I know, it’s shocking. Who knew I was more of an outdoors girl? It would have been a great summer for baking because the weather never got very hot so having the oven on wouldn’t have been torture. But that also mean it has been a great summer to lay in a hammock and drink wine. Soooooo. . . . . you know. Read the rest of this entry

Banana Peanut Butter Popsicles

Where has my summer gone? I can’t believe it’s August. I’ve barely even shared with you this summer. Recipes or stories about how I am an outdoors woman now!Banana Peanut Butter PopsiclesIt’s true. I’ve lived in the woods and survived without running/potable water, refrigeration, toilets, etc. Just us, some dehydrated food, a water filter and a shovel.  Ok, and a few comforts such as a tent, hammock, comfy little chairs and some wine. Of course, I didn’t have popsicles but I survived with out homemade treats for 4 whole days. Read the rest of this entry

Peach Mango Basil Popsicles

Popsicles are one of those simple pleasures that I remember from my childhood with fondness but rarely have in my freezer these days. They are exceedingly easy to make in a dizzying variety of flavors. Plus, instead of being glorified frozen sugar you can use REAL fruit or REAL coffee or REAL ingredients in general. Much more refreshing on a hot summer day.Peach Mango Basil PopsiclesMy favorite popsicles, by the way, were those ones that are in little plastic sleeves. In particular, Otter Pop brand, blue raspberry flavor, please! I love these homemade popsicles but I’m still not going to turn down an Otter Pop. (PS-I also find otters adorable!) Caramel Latte Cake

It’s the perfect spring weather right now. Warm enough during the day to be outside without a sweatshirt but cool enough in the morning and evening to comfortably cuddle up with a nice cup of coffee or a latte. Of course, this weather has been a long time coming and still is about 20 degrees below where we normally are right now.Latte cake

Actually the relative warmth has only hit the past 2 days. Which was unfortunate for Tim & I and our planned hiking trip this past weekend. Read the rest of this entry

Almond Joy Ice Cream

It’s not really ice cream “season” yet in my part of the country. It’s more like very cold slush season here still. However, I have an ice cream recipe for you today.almond joy ice creamAs far as I’m concerned, there is no real season for ice cream. Cold weather or hot. . makes no difference to me.
