I have very few pictures of this cake. I guess I was just so excited about it that I forgot to whip out the camera.
And in case you’re concerned, no hummingbirds were harmed in the making of this cake. Although, maybe this cake is the reason Tim’s face was attacked by a hummingbird last week! A hummingbird buzzed in like a giant killer bumblebee and ran right into Tim’s face. He said his face was even wet with bird spit afterwards. (Do birds have spit?) I’m not sure if it was an accidental flight miscalculation or just a violent attack by a rogue bird. Either way, Tim moved pretty fast in reaction to the “attack’. Quite funny, really!

Easy Chocolate Cake with Lime Buttercream
Another June birthday dessert. I think this is the last one I’ll be making this month. (My waistline is thankful for that!)
This cake is so easy. A one bowl cake with a simple buttercream. The most work you have to do is zest and juice the limes.
Pina Colada Popsicles
Adult popsicles. That’s what these are. And they are sooooooo good!
I’ve recently taken a couple of weekend getaways and one of them involved a lazy Saturday spent by the pool with pina coladas and daiquiris. Inspiration for a delicious popsicle was born.
Banana Cupcakes with Brown Buttercream
I know, I know! It’s been a few weeks. What can I say? I was enjoying the spring weather, taking a quick trip to Orlando, and celebrating a lot of birthdays!
From about the end of March through the beginning of July there are A LOT of birthdays in my world. Friends and family. Kids and adults. I did a little baking for the occasions. Including these cupcakes for the April birthday of my Uncle.
Snickerdoodles
I don’t make many cookies in the warmer weather. Oh, I make them, just not as often. The oven heats up the kitchen. I think most cookies are sort of winter food anyway. (Except S’more cookies. . . definitely summer cookies!
Plus, I tend to crave more fresh fruit (ie: pies & crisps & cobblers) in the summer. As soon as fall rolls around I want lots of cookies and brownies and heavy cakes more often. Read the rest of this entry

We are exhausted! Tim and I had our first weekend off together in 3 weeks and we spent it walking, getting sunburned, doing yard work, cleaning the garage, etc. Yes, it’s officially summer. I think we skipped spring. And I am pooped already.

Strawberry Vanilla Cake
